Spring break trip helps young family build a house!
What did you do on your spring break?
Five Globalscope campus ministers and six students from the El Pozo ministry in Puebla, Mexico, used their break to build a house for a young family in need.
“The whole trip was an incredible experience,” said campus minister Jon Sylvester. “Building the house was our main goal, but the 16-hour drive to Ciudad Acuña near the Mexico-U.S. border gave us plenty of quality time with the students.
“We played games in the van, ate together like a family all week, and came out of it as better friends,” he added.
The group worked once again with the organization Casas por Cristo to build a house for a 19- and 20-year-old couple with a one-year-old daughter.
“Working with Casas is always amazing, but I think building a house for someone their own age made it even more special for our students,” said Jon. “It was so great to watch them interact with the couple and their families as they cooked lunch for us each day, helped us with some of the construction and just enjoyed life together.
“At the end of the week, when we officially handed over the keys to the house, beautiful words were expressed by the students,” said Jon. “I know this week changed all of us for the better.”
