Mabatini
About 100,000 people live in the two-square kilometer village called Mabatini. They are from the tribes of Kamba in eastern Kenya, Kikuyu in central Kenya, and Luo and Luhya in western Kenya. They live in houses of tin or mud and work in small businesses or as jua kali (itinerant) artisans.
The goals of the CHE (Community Health Evangelism) committee are to create employment by improving sanitation and to promote spiritual growth. The local committee is still in the training stage. As yet, there is no Post Test Club in this village, but the people are interested in HIV/AIDS education. Classes will begin in 2009.
