Steps to Affiliate as a Missionary
2 to 4 years and beyond
1. Complete and submit a Preliminary Information Form
The Preliminary Information Form (PIF) is not an application, and submitting a completed form does not obligate you or CMF in any way. This background information assists the staff in answering your questions about field service with CMF.
2. Complete and submit an Application for Affiliation
Submission of a completed Missionary Application (MA) indicates that you are ready to begin the steps of affiliation for missionary service with CMF. There is also a $50 application fee.
3. Physical examination
Physical examination forms are sent with the MA. The exams are to be done by a physician of your choice, with forms signed by you and the physician then returned to CMF for processing. All children accompanying you to the field will need a physical exam as well.
4. Solicitation of references
Each of the references you name in the MA receives a Confidential Reference Form to fill out and return to us.
5. Psychological assessment
You will also be given a psychological assessment by a counselor chosen by us. Children twelve and older also participate in the assessment.
6. CMF Assessment Center
The three-day Assessment Center (AC) event is designed to provide a comprehensive approach to the selection of qualified cross-cultural workers. Your skills, abilities, and traits will be evaluated and matched with the profile of successful cross-cultural workers. At the end of the AC, you will receive thorough feedback, including a list of strengths and a personal development plan to help with your mental, emotional, and spiritual growth.
7. Applicant status
At the conclusion of the AC, if it is determined that you are a good fit for CMF, that CMF is a good fit for you and there aren’t significant steps you need to complete before affiliating, you will join the CMF team as a Recruit or a Candidate. If you are a Recruit, then you will move on to the support-raising phase of your preparation for the field. You will be scheduled for a Support Raising Training week.
If you are recommended for Candidate status, you will receive guidance in further preparation for field service, such as training, practical experience, and personal growth. You will need to complete these steps before becoming a Recruit and beginning your support-raising.
