Transforming Lives & Communities

Thailand

Bangkok

New partnership. We are pleased to join hands with the Urban Neighbours of Hope (UNOH) team, led by Ash and Anjie Barker, that serves in the slums of Thailand’s capital city. UNOH Bangkok started in 2002 and serves in three neighborhoods in the Klong Toey slum – the city’s largest slum. They minister in the communities through education, sports programs, music and English lessons, microfinance projects, relief programs, and prison visitation. We are currently recruiting members for a team to work alongside UNOH.

Globalscope campus ministry. In a building just off the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology campus in Bangkok, the Grapevine Student Club, a ministry of the Globalscope-Thailand campus ministry team, opens its doors to Thai students for fun and friendship. Grapevine is also an evangelistic community. Our team members, interns, and exchange students from US universities share the Gospel by building relationships with Buddhist Thai students and letting the students get to know Jesus through their lives. The team offers many activities for the Thai students: game days on campus, dinner and devotions on Tuesdays, learning opportunities, neighborhood outreach, sports, and time to be together. Each activity is an opportunity to point students to Jesus Christ.

Chiang Mai

The CMF team in Chiang Mai has begun a new outreach ministry into under-served communities in their city. Their goal is to transform lives and communities through creative holistic ministries to bring the Buddhist poor into God’s Kingdom. The team uses a combination of Community Health Evangelism (CHE) strategies along with microfinance development to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional, and social needs of the poor.

During this startup phase the team has been conducting research, visiting existing projects among the poor, interviewing others who have experience in this type of work, and surveying different target areas. The next step is to establish a CHE training team of nationals to teach the CHE development lessons and serve as national evangelists in the communities.

Projects

Bible Study and a Meal — Thailand

One of the most important activities at a campus ministry is the weekly Bible study with a meal. This brings the students together into community both physically and spiritually. For $90, provide 1 Bible study with dinner.
