When fourth-grader Midy Michelle, a student at Missions of Hope’s Baba Dogo school in Nairobi, Kenya, landed in Kenyatta Hospital with a broken leg, it was a given that members of the school staff would visit her. Abby’s ministry is centered in the hyper-diverse, low-socio-economic suburb of Dandenong, where she works with young people in her partner church’s youth group and in the local public school. Kayla Dean grew up in a missionary family in Ecuador, but it was a Samaritan’s Purse shoebox-packing event that rekindled her desire for cross-cultural work as a young adult.
While the month of May has been “an absolutely amazing, joyful month of ministry at The Garden in Brisbane, Australia, the high was the recent retreat,” reports campus minister Emily Abernathy.
