Marketplace business development program holds first training in Mexico City
Nine Mexican Christian business leaders gathered in Mexico City in early August to participate in a two-day overview and mock training of the Aspire business development program.
These nine trainees will be in involved in various ways in CMF’s new entrepreneur training program, helping to teach Mexican business owners to apply both the gospel and foundational business principles to their work. A team of three CMF Marketplace Ministers is preparing to move to Mexico City to help launch and lead the new entrepreneur training programs.
The training participants were drawn from CMF’s extensive network of churches and other contacts in the Mexico City area, building on the long-term ministries of our missionaries. CMF team members Steve and Kay Carpenter and former CMF board member Mariana Luna, a Mexican businesswoman, facilitated all the on-site logistics for the group.
The Mexico team’s contacts helped CMF build a community of trainers, guest speakers, logistical and administrative help from people throughout the faith and business community in Mexico City, providing a strong platform from which to build out a market and a ministry.
The Aspire course was developed by Sinapis, a Christian organization that creates programs for fledgling business-as-mission entrepreneurs and was led by a Sinapis trainer. The course is Bible-based, extremely practical business training for anyone who wants to start a business. Topics include how to find a market and communicate your message, how to manage the finances, and the biblical context behind a business that honors and serves God.
The new trainers will use the Aspire course to help teach new entrepreneurs who enroll in the business Academy, which will begin in 2021.
