MOHI + CURE brings orthopedic services to Kenyan children

A partnership between Missions of Hope International (MOHI) and CURE International is providing life-changing services to children in Kenya, according to CMF team members Raelyn Nicholson and Rebecca Fielding.

“Last year, we began a three-year partnership with CURE, a Christian non-profit,” said Raelyn, who serves as the Health Quality Assurance and Liaison Coordinator for MOHI. Rebecca is an occupational therapist who serves children with special needs in MOHI schools.

“CURE provides surgical and orthopedic interventions for children with physical disabilities while proclaiming the Kingdom,” said Raelyn. “In 2021, MOHI will host 10 mobile clinics to identify children and link them to CURE’s services.”

Recently, Raelyn, Rebecca and the MOHI health team hosted the first CURE clinic at the Baba Dogo school in Kenya.

“The CURE team saw 45 patients, of which six qualified for surgery,” said Raelyn. “Many others were referred for physical therapy and orthotics.”

“Providing this unique service helps us put the love of Christ into action,” said Raelyn. “We pray that it will also open the door to deeper conversations about our faith in the one true God.”
