Providing hope and help as pandemic lockdown continues in Thailand

A recent pandemic food distribution organized by CMF team members Preston and Kristin Coursey provided 140 packages of necessities to help struggling families in their community.

“The pandemic lockdowns in Thailand have never really ended, and for a country whose primary economic import is tourism, the results have been significant,” said Kristin Coursey, who serves in Chiang Mai.

“After almost 18 months of no tourism, thousands of people whose livelihood depended on tourists have been scrambling to find any kind of work to put food on the table,” she added. “On top of that, all schools are closed, making it even hard for people to work.”

The food distribution was held in the community where their Thai co-workers, New and Joyce, live.

“These are the same families whose kids have been participating in our weekend kids’ club for the past several years,” said Kristin. “By distributing these packages, we provided some relief and were able to build recognition and make a strong connection with the government leaders of the area, giving us an opportunity for a stronger witness.

“Please continue to pray that God will speak into the hearts of these people and their leaders, and that our relationships will grow and provide more opportunities for discipleship,” she added.
